Art Through the Ages Day 5

Modern Art

Today we learned about expressionism and abstract expressionism. We studied the paintings of Jackson Pollock and Munch. We did expressionistic marble paintings and face drawings. We also studied the art boxes of Joseph Cornell and made boxes of our own. We watched a fun video about Andy Warhol and did a big picture of an ordinary item. Our exchange student from China gave us something from her home.

Modern Art

Today we started learning about Modern Art. At first we made a sketch book and we learned how to draw people. After it dried up a little we went outside to paint. There were so many great paintings today.

 In the afternoon we watched a movie about Linnea in Monet's Garden and then we did dot paintings like the impressionists. Then we created tissue paper gardens like Monet's Garden.
